According to reports, a study conducted by Crystal IS, a subsidiary of Japan's Asahi Kasei and the National Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratory (NEIDL) of Boston University, proved that Crystal IS's Klaran series UVC LEDs can effectively inactivate the new coronavirus within seconds .
The purpose of this study is to understand the response of the new coronavirus in the Klaran series UVC LED (260-280nm) wavelength range and under different dosage conditions.

The researchers used the Klaran UVC LED array to irradiate the surface with the new coronavirus. Picture 1 shows the logarithmic impairment of the new coronavirus at different time intervals after 1.25mW/cm2 UVC LED irradiation.
The researcher then repeated the test with a UVC LED with a dose of 5mJ/cm2. The peak wavelength is the two ends of the Suntech UVC LED product wavelength specification, namely 265nm and 278nm. The results show that the sterilization and disinfection effectiveness is similar in the tested wavelength range.
NEIDL thus concluded that in the critical sterilization wavelength range, low-dose UVC can effectively inactivate the new coronavirus in a few seconds.
It is worth noting that the research unit recently carried out relevant tests. Although the results have proved the effectiveness of UVC LEDs in inactivating the new coronavirus, the product specifications used are not the same. For example, the UVC LED used in the test at Miyazaki University in Japan has a wavelength of 280nm.
This shows that there is still a long way to go in the fight against the new coronavirus. However, we believes that these experimental data will help design innovative and effective disinfection solutions.
