Waterproof treatment of LED strip

With the rapid development of LED, its use is more and more widely, not only the indoor and outdoor lighting that we are familiar with, sometimes it will be used for underwater lighting, which requires LED lamps to have good waterproof. In addition, even ordinary outdoor lighting, in order to prevent the damage caused by rain, LED lights also need to be waterproof. So in the purchase of LED lights, waterproof grade IP has become a data of concern.

The “IP” protection level of the light strip refers to “international protection”. The IP protection level is composed of two numbers. The first number indicates the level of the lamp's dust prevention and foreign invasion, and the second number indicates the sealing degree of the lamp's moisture prevention and water invasion. The larger the number, the higher the protection level. The first number: the division range is 0-6, 6 is the highest level, which means that it can completely prevent the invasion of dust. The second number: the division range is 0-8, 8 is the highest level, which can protect against water submergence and immerse in water for a long time.

IP recommended by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) shall be adopted for protection level ×× Grade standard, different installation site, grade is not the same. For details, please refer to the following description. In the grading standard“ ××” It's a two digit number. The first digit represents the protection level for solids and the second digit represents the protection level for liquids. There are 7 levels of solid protection, which are respectively expressed by 0-6; There are 9 levels of liquid protection, which are represented by 0-8.

4: Prevent solids larger than 1 mm from entering

5: Prevent harmful dust accumulation

6: Completely prevent dust from entering

Waterproof grade

0: no protection

1: Water drops into the shell have no effect

2: When the shell is tilted to 15 degrees, water drops into the shell have no effect

3: Water or rain from the 60 degree corner to the shell has no effect

4: There is no harmful effect when the liquid is splashed on the shell from any direction

5: There is no harm in washing with water

6: It can be used in cabin environment

7: It can withstand immersion in a short time (1m)

8: Immerse in water for a long time under certain pressure

Different waterproof treatment of LED light strip:

Bare board: waterproof grade is IP20, suitable for indoor lighting with dry environment;

Surface inject glue: waterproof grade is IP65, semi waterproof, can work in humid environment, drop silica gel on bare board, the process is slightly complex;

Silicon tube: the waterproof grade is IP67, which can be used outdoors with good waterproof performance. The flexible silicone waterproof pipe is set on the bare board;

Glue pouring: waterproof grade is IP68, excellent waterproof performance, can be soaked in water for a long time.
